NOMINATION BASED ENTRIES | ENTRY BASED ENTRIES

Best Aquaculture Company

Awarded at the Judging Panel's discretion
Best Aquaculture Company will be based upon sustainable practice, business performance, investment, staff management practices and local community involvement. The short-list will be determined on the basis of information provided by entries in other categories as well as additional information that the judges are aware of through their knowledge of the industry.

Farm Manager of the Year

Nomination based – companies invited to nominate employee(s)
This will be awarded to a hands-on Manager of a single farm or a number of farms for either consistent excellence across the board or exceptional achievement in one particular aspect of the individual’s responsibilities that has resulted in notable benefits for the farm(s) and the company. 

Please note that judges may wish to arrange to visit and/or interview shortlisted nominees at work to assist them in their deliberations.

Skretting
 

Outstanding Contribution to Industry

Nomination based – industry invited to nominate individual(s)
Outstanding Contribution to Industry will be awarded to an individual from any organisation who has through whatever means enhanced the image and perception of the industry to the wider public, commercial, government / regulatory or stakeholder audience or made any outstanding contribution to the working life of their colleagues and / or peers.

Aquaculture Seafood Product of the Year

Nomination based – industry invited to nominate product(s)
Entries can encompass the broad scope of aquaculture produce and should demonstrate a product that is new and/or innovating that has been launched in the two years since the 2013 Awards.  The product should be able to demonstrate its success in target markets to date, highlighting any particular features or merits.

Aquaculture Supplier of the Year

Nomination based – industry invited to nominate
This will be awarded to a supplier who has shown commitment through some or all of the following - quality of product, service, technical advice and input, back-up service & communication, and product research & development, whether as a supplier of aquaculture products or a supplier of goods and services to fish and shellfish producers – to further the economic performance and sustainability of the aquaculture industry.

Community Initiative

Entry based – companies/individuals are invited to enter for this category
The Community Initiative category will be awarded to an individual, company or other organisation who has through whatever means improved and enhanced the image and knowledge of the industry for local coastal communities with particular focus on education and raising awareness amongst individuals or groups, including local community bodies, businesses and schools.

Business Development Award

Entry based – companies/individuals are invited to enter for this category
This will be awarded for the development of an aquaculture farming or business practice that has made a significant and positive contribution to the economic sustainability of the business, in existing markets or a new market.

HIE
 

Stewardship Award

Entry based – companies/individuals are invited to enter for this category
The Stewardship category will award an initiative that has contributed significantly to the sustainability of the business in its environment, including:

  • The natural environment for issues such as containment, predator management, wild stock interactions, waste management and mitigation, benthic and water column impacts and visual amenity.
  • Collaborative resource management including that with other marine businesses
  • Local stakeholder/other marine user interactions

Innovation Award

Entry based – companies/individuals are invited to enter for this category
This category is looking for evidence of innovation that has made a significant positive contribution to, among others, production performance, animal welfare, harvesting and / or processing, health & safety, sustainability or product development. This can be demonstrated in one of the following areas:

  • Use of existing or new technology
  • Staff management and training
  • Farming  practices
